When Jacqui first agreed to do the Trail Dames podcast, I
thought that we would spend our time talking about the obstacles
she has overcome in her life. Hit with bacterial meningitis
twice, and later diagnosed with a degenerative neurological
disease, Jacqui went from being an accomplished athlete to being
confined to a wheelchair. What an inspiring story,
right?
Then, after doing further research, I decided that instead, we
would talk about the amazing things she has accomplished since
landing in the wheelchair. Multiple medals and championships
at both the National and International levels in curling, running,
triathlons, and rowing. She has competed in two different
Olympic games and is training for Tokyo in 2020. Plenty to
talk about in a podcast, right?
But when I finally got to sit down and speak to Jacqui, I
learned that, while her past is beyond extraordinary, it is her
future that she is looking towards. Join us as Jacqui talks
about her goals for the 2020 Olympics, her work creating the first
adaptive kayak program for Achilles International, and her personal
quest to complete "The Crossing", an 80-mile, open ocean row across
the gulf stream from the Bahamas to Miami.
I guarantee you this will be one of the most inspirational,
motivational, and just plain fun interviews you have ever
heard!
